Do you tweet? Why or why not?
A common misconception is that Twitter is a website where people just talk about what they’re eating today. “Why would I want to know what so-and-so is eating for lunch?” goes the refrain.
Admitting our obvious bias, as restaurateurs for the past 15+ years, we are quite interested in what you’re having for lunch! But on a greater level, Twitter is more than just a lunch info distribution network – it’s another place where you forge real-life relationships. In real life, we talk with our friends and family about what we did at work, who was giving us trouble or made us feel good during the day, and yes, the foods we’re eating. Sharing individual moments and thoughts are what bring us together as people.
Twitter is therefore a reflection of real life, except you’re getting to know people online. We’ve had people come into the restaurant that found us first on Twitter, and the connection we make with them is as legitimate as with any real-life friend!
As people on Twitter are making these connections and talking about where they’re going and what they’re eating, we decided to start using a new Twitter lunch hashtag called #WFL – What’s For Lunch? As the eleven o’clock hour approaches for office workers across St. Louis, stumped as to where they might eat, we encourage you to search the #WFL hashtag and get inspired to eat!
…and of course, if you happen to get inspired to eat beef brisket tacos with a pepper pot and a cold beverage, you are always welcome to come visit us in Dogtown!
